Peru is a country with a rich history, great food, and the perfect mix of ancient and modern. It’s one of the most popular destinations for those looking to explore South America.
The capital city Lima is home to some of Peru’s most famous street art. Street art is one of the most common forms of expression in this city. It's not just about drawing on the walls, but it's also about transforming the streets into art galleries with paintings, sculptures and other installations.
The best way to explore Lima is by walking around the historic centre, La Plaza de Armas, which is filled with markets, street vendors and all kinds of shops. The city also has many museums, churches and cathedrals that are worth visiting.
If you're into food, then Lima might be for you! You can find restaurants from all around the world, as well as traditional Peruvian dishes. A walk through some of Lima’s neighbourhoods will give you a feel for its culture and how it has come to be today. In the historic centre, you can find many traditional restaurants that serve typical dishes such as Ceviche (fish), Aji de Gallina (spicy chicken) or Lomo Saltado (beef stir fry). You should also try Chicha Morada, a traditional drink made from purple corn.
